I'm actually glad the Ram 1500 REV production model doesn't look exactly like its Revolution concept. The final model looks like a proper Ram with some familiar design language. The concept was just too different.
I agree, the concept looks better but the production look is acceptable too.I think the concept looks better than the production model. But with that being said I think the production model is still a nice looking truck. It's certainly not ugly in my opinion.
Honestly, I was disappointed in the concept. The "slide the whole panel" RamBox looked like a bad idea - especially if that panel ever gets hit. Didn't care for the interior. Especially wanted to see the range extender - but no info on the concept.Anything from the concept you guys would like to see Ram introduce in the next model years?
I like the body design but not much else.Anything from the concept you guys would like to see Ram introduce in the next model years?
It may be my age, but I appreciate the design ties to the current Ram. Just enough departure, but true to style. But then, I am a traditionalist by nature.I'm actually glad the Ram 1500 REV production model doesn't look exactly like its Revolution concept. 100%It may be my age, but I appreciate the design ties to the current Ram. Just enough departure, but true to style. But then, I am a traditionalist by nature.
I would add, compared to the Ford, which to me is identical to the F150, and the Silverado, which IMO carries little dna forward, I think this is spot on. I also think that a midsize closer to the concept may be a nice niche offering , but not for traditional Ram buyers that will make up a good percentage of thr Rev’s consumer base. Again, just my opinion.
100%
I'm sure Ram had similar thoughts, especially to help its ICE truck crowd warm up to an all-electric version. Looking too different and screaming that it's an EV would turn off a lot of potential buyers, myself included.
I'll never get over how hideous the Cybertruck looks and why so many ordered one.Yup. I see the Tesla Cybertruck all I can picture is...

It's possible that Ram is planning to come out with more off-road capable trims. Before that we might see tuners and regular owners make it look and perform much wilder. Already seen some crazy F-150 Lightning builds.I think this was an imagined mock up from March of last year.
Not gonna lie, this would have been nice. The black RAM logo with LED outlines. The black parts on the bumper. It just had a mean face to it. Dodge roots. Traditional but modern appearance.
Good point on the button vs. touchscreen debate. Since I've never had a vehicle with a big screen or infotainment center, I can't say if I'd like it any more or less. I'm still rocking a pretty base model 2012 Ram 1500 and a classic mustang. I just know how to turn on my headlights, adjust the heat/radio/etc. in all my vehicles in the dark with my eyes closed. No need to ever take my eyes off the road to see which part of the screen I'm touching to select radio station 2 versus station 6 in my presets. Buttons on the steering wheel to help with that could be convenient too. Again, I have the old base model with no fun toys like steering wheel buttons so the REV will be a big upgrade from what I have.I think it is anybody’s guess as to what the initial release will be, unfortunately that is at least 2 yrs from now. Or maybe the long wait is a good thing and Stellantis will have the marketing information to push out something special.
As an aside I was a tactical button person until I got my R1T. I am completely happy with the touch screen and prefer it to buttons. Our EV6 has buttons and I frequently get frustrated looking for the right buttons while being distracted while driving.
Also there are probably over a million folks happily driving buttonless Teslas.
I agree that test drives are essential. We test drove a model Y, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Mach E and EV6. The Y was too minimalistic but the others were acceptable. Ultimately we chose the EV6.Good point on the button vs. touchscreen debate. Since I've never had a vehicle with a big screen or infotainment center, I can't say if I'd like it any more or less. I would at least like info like speed/fuel/charge/etc. in front of me instead of having to look at a centered screen. Does that look like an instrument style cluster behind the steering wheel or the proposed windshield heads up display? I'm unsure. The heads up could be neat but maybe distracting? How would sun glare interfere with being able to read whatever is there? Drove a vehicle with the speed that showed up like that once and you could only see it from certain angles.
Like you said, 2 years is a long time for refinements, adjustments, modifications, etc.
It would be nice to test drive one though before committing to what's surely going to be a pricey vehicle. Feel can make or break a vehicle purchase. It can look great, but if the seats and the interior setup isn't right or comfortable...you're not going to enjoy it. Likewise, even with the best interior, if it's an eyesore, it's not going to be fun to drive. Vehicles are an extension of the owner so you need something that just "feels" right, "looks" right, and just "is" right.
Pictures and videos over the next few years may help ease those concerns, but who doesn't enjoy a good test drive? Especially in an EV?
P.S. - My brother-in-law has a Model 3. Everything contained on the center infotainment center and VERY minimalist dash/interior design. Not a huge fan. If funds allowed, I'd definitely choose the Model S over the 3 if we're talking Tesla cars. The body lines are more sporty/fun plus the traditional dash cluster behind the steering wheel in addition to the infotainment screen...definitely my preference. But pre-yolk steering. I enjoyed K.I.T.T. in Knight Rider as much as the next person but the semi square-ish wheel from the concept Rev is about as crazy as I want my steering wheel. I like having my hand top center with my other arm out the window.
