Montana HR3552 here reserved on the 13th. I had a VW ID4 reservation and have a Lightning reservation. I just want an inexpensive AWD EV. The Lightning looked like a killer choice at $41,000 before the $7500 credit but those days are long gone with the new pro model pricing starting at almost $58k now. So if the Rev can undercut that price by a significant number I'll maybe get one. I also am waiting on the Equinox EV orders to open because I think that may be good too. Everything needs to be less than a Model Y which is now $55k before the $7500 credit with only a 1 month wait. The ID4 I had on order forever was finally built and delivered but just after they changed the rules on the tax credit so it was a Germany build and not eligible for the $7500 rebate so I refused delivery and got a refund. It was $46k before so would have been OK under $40k. If I let go of the AWD (in Montana a bad idea) then I'll just get a Bolt and and keep the old Subaru for winters. One car would be better than 2 IMO.

Personally that means I like they kept the REV simple. Simple means affordable. It's not like the regular Ram is a bad looking truck like a Tundra or something.

I guess Ram really had you with the Revolution concept.
GMC really does have the more upscale looking electric rig out of all we know is coming. SIERRA EV DENALI EDITION 1 reservations are all called for, are you still going to try getting one or get a lower trim?
Yes, typically when a "prototype" is shown so close to production, the prototype is reasonably close to the actual truck. If I'm dropping $90,000+ for a replacement
it's not going to look like a slightly refreshed existing truck.
I'll pre-order the next GMC release. I'm sure I'll be able to equip it the way I want it.

The concept model was a little much but I'm with you and was hoping for something a bit more different from the traditional ICE version. A happy medium between the two would have been nice. Something new, EV-ish, different, but not crazy enough to push away people wanting their truck to look like a truck. 🤷‍♂️
Welcome to the forum @HuskerMustang! Are there any specific design changes you wish Ram made on the REV?

Welcome to the forum @Hersbird! Between the Ram Lightning and Model Y is the Ram the one you're most interested in getting?

Its possible that in 2-3 years when GM and RAM actually start production, prices for stripped down EV trucks could be in the $40-50k range.

Unfortunately I think that as long as there are tax credits, manufacturers and dealerships will take advantage of that and charge more.

If your primary criteria is price then stripped down ICEs should be cheap and available for years to come.

Well when the Lightning was first announced and actually sold at $41k it was the least expensive new f150 you could buy in crew cab and awd/4wd. I was all over that. Heck it even had everything I wanted, cruise, AC, keyless, PW, PL... then they jacked the price $15,000. I still have my reservation but unless they bring it down at least 1/2 that and qualify for the full $7500 I'm not interested. I can get a new 4wd quad cab Warlock for $45,000 but I'd rather have an EV so if they can get a Tradesman packaged low range Rev for around $50-55k and qualify for the $7500 credit I'll be interested.

I actually hate the way the model Y looks but it is proven technology with solid established good resale. Basically anything from Ford or Ram shouldn't cost more unless it has much better range or much better performance or better features which the Ford doesn't at $55k. We will have to see what the Ram has at that price. The 20% price reduction on the model Y sort of changes the whole game. Capitalism for the win!

It will be interesting to see where the CT ends up costing, provided it actually gets manufactured. I am not a fan of the CT but as more EV truck options enter the market prices should come down.

A lot can happen in 2-3 years.

Welcome to the forum @BigDaddyEureka! Is there anything else that's a dealbreaker for you? Or is range your main priority?
I'm kind of assuming competitive charging specs...20-80% in 30 min, 300 mile or more electric range before hitting the range extender (ReX)...and as good an interior as the current Ram 1500 (which is pretty nice IMHO).

Beyond that, I don't do a LOT of towing so 5000 lbs is plenty for my needs. My current 1500 is 10k and change, and I've only used that capacity once.

Must NOT have a black interior. Ford has gone to the old Henry Ford thing about "you can have any color you want son long as it's black" for their interiors, and on the GM products non-black interiors are only available on the very top trims. If all the interiors are black I'm out.

I'll wait for final judgement on the production model until more pictures and details come out.

I was initially torn on the concept truck design. I'm old school...ish. I have a classic mustang. Grew up going to car shows and working on a ranch in the summers.

I like tactile nobs for volume/temp/etc. so I don't have to deal with a touch screen and scrolling menus while driving. So in that case, I like the more traditional infotainment setup from the updated "production" model pics. I also like my gauges/speedometer/etc. in a dash cluster in front of me, not Tesla Model 3 style where its only in the center infotainment screen. The heads up display with the concept could have been interesting, but again, I'm good with the traditional approach here, it's just not very innovative or "evolutionary." Production model 1: Concept model: 0

However, I did like the front end of the concept truck design and its aerodynamic appearance. The body lines on the fenders and hood were great. It gave an aggressive, almost muscle car vibe. The front grill design was also killer on the concept model. I also liked the smooth look of the door handles. That's become a very EV thing to do. If you didn't want to go full recessed, that's fine, but having them stick way out like traditional ones keeps the ICE look and drag. Also, not very EV-y. A safe play if you don't want to push away traditionalists. Point on appearance for the overall front 2/3 of the truck goes to the concept model. The production one is just ICE-light.

Wasn't a big fan of what looked like super wide box sides on the concept. I guess these were probably due to the storage areas. Maybe could have gotten used to that. I feel like storing things in the box sides is an interesting concept but eats up bed space for hauling. Talking about the bed, the concept bed looked short since the cab was so big. Maybe it wasn't really if the front end was shorter without an engine bay? However, the bed extender option was a convenient fix for that. Hauling full sheets of plywood would have been a piece of cake. The full pass through for long 2x4s was awesome too. The production model doesn't appear as of yet to have that or the midgate feature so unsure about hauling and bed variations. TBD.

Also, too soon to judge the interior. I LOVED the concept idea of ditching carpet. Honestly, who needs carpet in a truck? You either wear it out or get WeatherTech floor liners to protect it anyway. Point concept truck.

Wasn't thrilled about the suicide doors so not upset about those leaving. Maybe I would have loved them? Unsure. Point: Toss up?

The rest of the interior fashion design (ambient lighting, apple leather, stitching, seat design, steering wheel shape/design, etc.) and spaciousness was all super nice on the concept. The seat tracks for easy removal and infinite adjustability was a neat idea. Too early to judge the production model since we don't have interior pics yet. I could do with or without the jump seats. Unsure if I'd ever need or use them. I say that now, but who knows. Maybe they'd come in handy time to time. I'd definitely want interior accent color options or to match the truck paint combo. If I go for a red truck, the orange highlights inside might clash. However, black and red could be slick! Or black and silver...just some options.

However, like I said, I am a fan of a more traditional dash with instrument cluster. So depending on which interior features you're talking about, both models get pros and cons there.

The rear end seemed super square on the concept. I did appreciate that the cab didn't slant into the bed as bad as the EV Silverado. If I wanted an Avalanche, I'd get one.

I hope the various ride heights/modes are all still around. While commuting, I'd go for range and efficiency over being 2-3 feet off the ground trying to clear ruts in pastures or mountain trails while camping. Plus, I'm shorter so I don't want a ladder to climb into my truck.

Lots of thoughts...The concept was definitely different and was a bit much for those that wanted their truck to look like a traditional truck. It was a bit much for me initially as well. However, it was slowly growing on me...for like two weeks or however long before the "production" version was introduced and brought us back to the Ford Lightning, Dodge edition. The safe, ICE version, with a handful of tweaks and a frunk. To truly be Evolutionary, I feel like there needed to be a bit more distinction between what was and what is coming. There hasn't been a big design change for Dodge Rams in quite a few years. This could have been their chance. I also understand that people don't like change so playing it safe is probably the smarter business decision. It's not like ICE versions are going away any time soon so they could have had both.

ALL OF THAT SAID, it's too soon to judge the production EV model in its entirety. The model we had a month ago was drastically different and who knows what small (or big) changes may happen between now and production a couple years from now. Also, we still have limited pictures of what all this new "production" model really has inside or out...so now we anxiously wait for more info and more pictures in the months to come.

With trucks seemingly only getting bigger and bigger, one thing that is required...it still better fit in my garage!

300 mi on electric, plus at least 150 on the ReX. I'd prefer 200 miles worth of ReX because my Ram 1500 has the 32 gallon tank and I like driving 10-ish hours at a time.
What is ReX? Are you thinking the Ram REV is a plug in hybrid? It is pure electric, no ICE, no exhaust.

So you are looking for 500 miles of range? I suppose that may be possible in 2-3 years.

I am an old fart and need a pee stop every 2-3 hours. My R1T has about 350 miles in conserve under the right conditions. So far that has been adequate and as the charging network builds out it will be enough. When I went EV it was not important to me to match the range of an ICE with a big gas tank.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to start this thread to track reservation status updates, etc.

If you've made a reservation, say hi in the comments below!

Hi, I made my reservation and spoke with my dealer in Idaho today. I asked them about the reservation process and wondered why the dealer selection when you pay $100 didn’t come up. He assured me as long as I contacted them everything is good.

I wondered why no dealership selection too but then a tiny bit of optimism caused me to think maybe Stellantis will do something different and better than GM and Ford.

Congrats on placing your reservation @cbou340! Maybe the dealer selection will come up as you get closer to finalizing the order.

I wonder if Ram dealerships will add dealer markup (ADM) like most GM and Ford dealerships? I guess it will depend on the economy and EV truck demand/supply when shipping begins.

IMO ADM should be ADE (added dealer extortion) because dealerships are lobbied legislated third parties that can charge whatever the market will bear while providing very little in return.

Rant over.

ReX is shorthand for Range eXtender in the BMW i3 community. Our i3s has a 2 cylinder gas scooter motor in the back that doesn't drive the wheels but does recharge the battery if you can't get to a DC fast charger. I'm hoping the ReX in the Ram EV will both boost towing capability and extend range significantly for road trips.

I'm only good for about 10 hours at a throw now...used to be 15 but now not so much!

My understanding is that the REV does not have ReX, no ICE engine to recharge it. Just a large battery pack. When electrons are gone you need a charge port, no onboard ICE to the rescue. Another way to say this is that the Rev does not have a gas tank or exhaust pipes. Its pure 100% Electric.

The BMW i3 is a plug in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV)the REV is (BEV)Battery Electric Vehicle.

Are you hoping that Ram will eventually offer a PHEV REV? Anything is possible.

The Rev is supposed to have a range extender option.
